A Re. 1 revenue stamp is required only when a single cash payment for rent exceeds ₹5,000. Bank transfer, UPI, or cheque payments do not require a revenue stamp.

HRA exemption under Section 10(13A) is the lowest of three amounts: actual HRA received, rent paid minus 10% of basic salary, or 50% of basic salary in metro cities (40% in non-metro cities).
